Dunoon, in the south of Argyll and Bute Scotland – location and directions

Dunoon is located on a beautiful peninsula, with an attractive promenade (good jogging potential) and has a large pier. BUT that isn’t what makes it worth a visit, or at least not the only thing. Surrounded by water because of how it lies in the mountainous Cowal peninsula it feels like an island. The mountains and surrounding areas to Dunoon are nothing short of stunning.

The Benmore Botanic Gardens are beautiful in the summer and there is a day’s walking within their grounds. Nearby there are several other walks through the stunning countryside that will take you up into the hills, or through the forests – or both.

Well worth a visit.
